About Woodruff Place Baptist Church
A Church For The City
At Woodruff Place Baptist Church, we believe that the people of the city cannot be won to Christ if Christians keep their distance. We are committed to being “salt and light” in Indianapolis, choosing to minister to our community in person and up close. We view our city not just as a location, but as a mission field where we serve as the hands and feet of Jesus.
Our History
Our roots run deep in the heart of Indianapolis. On April 2, 1894, Woodruff Place Baptist Church was organized by 125 members from the First Baptist Church of Indianapolis. For over 130 years, our congregation has stood as a landmark of faith, taking its name from the historic Woodruff Place neighborhood and remaining dedicated to its spiritual and communal flourishing.
