Why is this campaign necessary? Our historic building has served the Woodruff Place neighborhood for over 130 years. To continue being a safe, functional hub for the 10+ community organizations that use our space, we must address critical structural issues—starting with the roof—to prevent further damage to our interior and our historic stained glass.
What is the “matching grant” mentioned? We have been awarded a $200,000 grant from Sacred Places Indiana/Indiana Landmarks. However, this is a “matching” grant, meaning we only receive those funds once we raise an equal $200,000 from our own community and partners.
What happens if we exceed our Phase 1 goal? Any funds raised beyond the initial roof match will be immediately allocated to the Stained Glass Window Repair (estimated at $125,000) and subsequent masonry repairs.
Is my donation tax-deductible? Yes. Woodruff Place Baptist Church is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization. All financial contributions to the Capital Campaign are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
Can I pledge a gift over time? Absolutely. We welcome one-time gifts as well as pledges distributed monthly or quarterly. Please contact our office at 317-639-2501 to set up a pledge schedule.
Who oversees the funds? The funds are managed by our Board of Trustees and specifically earmarked for the Capital Campaign projects. We are committed to transparency and provide regular updates on project spending and progress.
