Shaws: Spring Update
Dear Friends in Christ at Woodruff Place,
Greetings from the Cotahuasi Canyon of southern Peru. How are you all doing? It is rainy season now and the hills are a beautiful green, with rain showers almost every afternoon.
We continue to be very blessed to participate in what the LORD is doing here among the Quechua people. The radio is proving to be a big blessing, especially to people in isolated villages that have no regular church meetings in their town. A couple visited recently from one such village, letting us know that the radio is coming in very clear. They purchased a Bible from our small bookstore and several booklets for their children. Some of the other ministries that continue along with the radio ministry are discipleship, church planting, children's ministry and youth ministry.
Fairly frequently Brad (and now Sara, see below) are able to help sick or injured people. Not long ago, we had a woman show up at our door that had been beaten by her husband. Unfortunately with the very high rate of alcoholism this is an all too common occurrence.
Ideally, we'd love to see regular church meetings in each of the villages, but this is not possible due to the small number of men trained and prepared to be planting churches on their own. Please pray that God will continue to raise up more workers for the harvest! Matthew 9:37-38 says, "Then he said to his disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.'"
We are thankful for the short termers who are with us now. Sara Ekberg is a nurse from western Nebraska, here for 3 months. Clemens Schmidt is from Austria and will be here 9 months and Vincent is from Nashville here for 2 months. Please pray that this be a fruitful time in their lives and that God will provide for more long term workers to help. Cassandra continues to study at home and serve in various ministries. Janelle is focusing on the radio ministry and online Bible courses.
Thank you so much for your continued support! We continue to pray that the LORD will abundantly bless and provide for all of your needs and your involvement in serving the Lord. We would be honored to join you in prayer. Please just let us know how we can pray
Thank you for your prayers, for us and for the work here. We appreciate them VERY much. We see God's hand of protection working because of the prayers of the saints.
Please pray for God's continuing sanctifying work in us, for growth in holiness, humility, and trust in His truth, so that we can be more useful vessels for His glory. James 4:6 says, "But he gives us more grace. Therefore, it says, 'God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.'"
We are VERY grateful for all your love, prayers, support, and encouragement. May God richly bless each of you.
Because He lives,
Brad, Gina, Janelle, and Cassandra Shaw
